More individuals, institutions and organisations continue to donate
campaign materials, as well as cash to the Gambian leader, His Excellency
Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, ahead of the forthcoming
presidential election.

Among the latest individuals and institutions to donate to the Gambian
leader were the National Council of Seyfolu; Mass Lowe Entertainment and
Associates Nigeria; and ‘Keremendeng’, a Senegalese artist based in
Casamance.

The donated items were received on behalf of the Gambian leader by the vice
president and minister of Women’s Affairs, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy on
Friday at State House.

Presenting a cash amount of D20 000, Lamin Queen Jammeh, the chief of Upper
Niumi who also doubles as the secretary general of the National Council of
Seyfolu, said as the people are bracing up for the November presidential
polls, his organisation came to show their loyalty and love for President
Jammeh in appreciation of his support and guidance to the Council.

“What he [President Jammeh] has done for Gambians and the Council is too
much and it is only God that can reward him abundantly. So if the process
is going on to nominate him for another term, we deem it fit to contribute
in whatever effort we can to show to the world our love for him,” he
explained.

He also recalled the Gambian leader’s donation of about 48 tractors earlier
this year to all the district chiefs in the country, including his
countless other supports to the Council.

“So we decided to contribute and came up with a sum of D20, 000 towards his
nomination and we want to present this small sum through the vice president
for onward delivery to President Jammeh,” he added.

While calling on community heads, alkalolu and Seyfolu across the country
to mobilise their people to vote massively for the Gambian leader in the
November 24th Presidential Election, Chief Jammeh urged parents to
sensitise their children, especially the newly registered voters about
election procedures. He also called on all to shun all forms of violence
during the election.

For his part, the Paramount Chief of The Gambia, Alhaji Demba Sanyang,
thanked President Jammeh on behalf of the Council of Seyfolu for all his
development initiatives.

Saihou Sanyang, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Local Government
and Lands, who led the delegation to State House also spoke at the ceremony.

Mass Lowe Entertainment and Associates
In a similar development, members of the Mass Lowe Entertainment and
Associates Nigeria presented campaign materials in form of posters and
T-shirts to the Gambian leader through VP Njie-Saidy.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Naffie Jassey said the move was meant to
say ‘thank you’ to the president for all his support to not only Gambians,
but Africa at large. She hailed the Gambian leader for his outstanding
achievements in the development of the country, stressing that the nation’s
health is his priority.

While thanking VP Njie-Saidy for the warm reception accorded them, Jassey
used the opportunity to call on the people, especially the youths to rally
behind the president in the forthcoming election to ensure that he records
yet another landslide victory.

Keremendeng Music Group
Bakary Sonko aka ‘Keremendeng’a rising artiste based in the Senegalese
Southern province of Casamance and delegation were also at State House on
Friday to present their latest single, which is dedicated to the Gambian
leader, through VP Njie-Saidy.

‘Jenjellimankess” [the name of the single] in essence highlights the
president’s development initiatives and represents one of Sonko’s best
artworks. Presenting the CD, Sonko explained that the move is part of his
Eid-UL Adha gift locally known as ‘Salibo’ to the Gambian leader. He said
that the new masterpiece was sang in ‘Mandinka’, and it is a hit song that
his fans will appreciate, stressing that he intended to make the donation
earlier but could not, due to circumstances.

He used the opportunity to call on the youths to vote en-mass for the
Gambian leader in the forthcoming polls. While expressing his interest to
rally behind the APRC wagon in the forthcoming campaign, Sonko described
The Gambia as a home for him, citing the cordial relations that exist
between Senegal and The Gambia.

The minister of Forestry and the Environment, Jato Sillah commended the
three groups for their move. He lauded them for their proactive stance and
love for the Gambian leader.

“The role each of you plays cannot be overemphasised as it is visible for
everyone to see, even not or this presentation,” he said.Minister Sillah
acknowledged that each of the materials donated would go a long way in
helping them in the forthcoming polls.

“It is not a surprise to us at all as we have seen your efforts in this
country,” he stated. He then called on people, especially those who have
registered, to come out and vote, as it is their constitutional right.

The APRC National mobiliser and mayor of the Kanifing Municipality, Yankuba
Colley equally hailed the efforts of the three groups. He declared that the
forthcoming election will be a different one, as they want to make history
not only in The Gambia, but Africa and the world at large.

He described the gesture as worthy in the sense that it is a show of their
love for the president; and that they are also taking ownership of the APRC
under the leadership of President Jammeh.

Like previous speakers, Mayor Colley, renewed his call for youths to vote
en-mass for President Jammeh, while predicting that victory is imminent in
the forthcoming November 24th 2011 polls.

Receiving the items, VP Njie-Saidy, on behalf of the Gambian leader, also
commended the three groups for their move, which she described as worthy
and timely.

She also challenged the electorate to vote massively for the Gambian leader
in the forthcoming November polls, stressing that President Jammeh’s
leadership qualities have continued to be admired by not only Gambians but
many other people in the sub-region and the world at large.

The vice president stated that as the forthcoming election draws closer,
there is hope that the party will again register a landslide victory come
November 24th. She commended the local authorities for their continuous
mobilisation of the electorate at their various localities, noting that
this shows their commitment to the party.

“Over the years, the Council has been very proactive towards all meaningful
development initiatives in the country,” she further said, while commending
all those who donated to President Jammeh. She finally assured that the
Gambian leader is very much appreciative of their efforts.
