MY RESIGNATION FROM THE NTCG UNDER SEDIA BAYO’S LEADERSHIP My Dear Editor,Please Allow me share this information with all Gambians and your entire wider readership. To His Excellency Sedia Bayo President of the NTCG and CabinetYour Excellency,
I wish to write this letter resigning my position as Cabinet Minister for information and Spokesman of the NTCG. Your Excellency I still strongly belief with collaboration and cooperation with the rest of my former colleagues in the Cabinet, you have greater chances of achieving your aims. With our collective aspirations to remove the tyrant and oppressive regime of dictator Jammeh from power in our much beloved nation, there has to be unity among Gambian opposition who due to so much infighting, stands slim chances of succeeding. The once smiling Coast has stopped smiling and now her blood flows with loads of her sons and daughters wailing day in and day out. I have no problem to follow even a tortoise if it aims to remove Yahya Jammeh from power and my service would always be 100% to it if it respects my principles not to be like Yahya Jammeh. Even Mariama Jammeh if she stands today to remove her father from power, she shall have me on board as long as she respects my principles. for as long as he (Yahya Jammeh) remains President of the Gambia, our nation seize to know freedom and freedom is what I always desire for myself and all mankind
All said, I must confess, I have been very much privileged to meet great personalities who are true sons and daughters of a country we both love during my short time as a member of your Cabinet and that is a gift I cherished so much. But sir, my resignation is so personal that I feel I would do you, my colleagues and especially the Gambian people so much disservice if I continue to serve under your leadership as information minister and spokesman. This position requires so much and there was in fact no information to give the public as none was forthcoming and in other to protect the organisation, it has made me what I never has been in my entire live a speculator to be blunt and because of constant snubs from the chief executive which is yourself. I belief I cannot speculate to Gambians what I knew very little of despite the mere fact that sensitive issues should remain secretive until they come to light on their own due to public protection but that is not my point and I know you knew what I meant.
Anyway despite all I said above, I still strongly belief you have the Gambia at heart and hope you can deliver her from the clutches of tyranny and dictatorship, but I belief the very principles I joined the NTCG Cabinet have been not adhered to and therefore made my position unsustainable. I had hoped you would respect my wish and share this letter with other members of your cabinet and media by sending your cabinet a copy of my previous resignation letter so that you could discuss your acceptance of my resignation and I believed I had waited long enough for a reply. I knew my former cabinet colleagues, would receive my resignation with both shock, surprise and disappointment for I had promised some members that I would stay but in live sometimes hard choices have to be made and with regret I have to make this decision due to the respect I have for great men and women still left in your cabinet.
Because I have not heard any response after a long wait, I have no choice but make it public. From now on I want it known That I no longer belong to the NTCG. Please understand that I allowed you handle the media bit of my resignations and hoped within a week, in the interest of transparency and adherence to the principles of democracy, the public would be informed of my decision by you as head of the NTCG but keeping if from the public is not in the interest of transparency, democracy and fairness the very values I joined the NTCG in the first place. I ask you all for your forgiveness if I ever wrong anyone during my time with you all and your understanding the reason for my bowing out.
It has been a pleasure working with you and I pray with all my heart that you succeed in your efforts to save the Gambia. I thank you and all your entire Cabinet for having the faith and trust in me during my time and service to you and I assure you all that what ever sensitive secret I knew about the NTCG, with my honor would remain as if I still am a member.
The conditions that warrants my departure if improved for the benefit of Gambia and Gambians would be great for your struggle. I maybe wrong but I hate living in dreams for dreams only happens in sleep and unless am insane I belief I am fully awake
I remain Your fellow citizen in the struggle for liberating our countryBamba Sering Massking
