Cherno: It is certain that the Gambia is faced with numerous problems. Human rights violations are in the forefront. It comes back to that one man who is holding everyone hostage. I too hail this prayers for peace. Why a whole day will be chosen for it or national holiday observed for it shows the level of fetishes and insanity Jammeh has now reached. The guy is completely nuts! What this prayer service means is that, 'Jammeh, nah dema dema demm!!' Now, to how such prayers would avail or guarantee Jammeh's continuous stay in power is something that he (Jammeh) will figure out and report back to us. I agree with Dr. Jallow below that Jammeh has 'konoo bahyoo' after all this talk about rebels penetrating the heart of Banjul. Ollof yee nyuneh, 'kuu amm maatah siisaah lal, yaakoh njekah yegg.' For all I care, let Jammeh deal with his bed bugs eventhough he continues to pretend that he is free from the bugs. There is no doubt in my mind that a bigger day awaits Jammeh. When that day comes, he would wish that he was not born. Best,Yero

Cherno,

When we pray for peace, we must also work for peace. Prayer without corresponding action is useless. A man who prays for peace then walks out the door and punches a passer-by in the face should not hope that his prayers will be answered. If indeed this story is true, Jammeh's call for prayers is testimony to his cowardliness. All dictators are bullies and bullies are always cowards. Jammeh's wasting of national time and energy on prayers for peace is at best cowardly, at worst shameful. I think all the recent talk about rebel activities has tied his stomach into knots of crippling panic. Let him just be the brave lion he purports to be and deal with whatever comes his way as a fearless lion would. Thanks for sharing.

BANJUL: NATIONAL DAY OF PEACE PRAYERS OBSERVED IN THE GAMBIA!
NATIONAL DAY OF PEACE PRAYERS OBSERVED IN THE GAMBIA!

The confused Kanilai monster has declared today Friday as a public holiday. Mr. Jammeh wants Muslims and Christians to pray for the nation. He said peace is an expensive commodity, and should be jealously safeguarded. All business outlets would be closed in Banjul. The state stands to lose couple of thousands of dalasi due to Gambia’s day of prayers organized by Jammeh.
NIA sources said Jammeh has been fed by his intelligence about rebel activities noticed somewhere around Kartong. He is worried that his regime will soon be toppled when the rebels hit the nation. The NIA said the dictator is increasingly worried and confused these days. He hardly trusts anyone within the state house.
A team of investigators have been trying to ascertain the alleged rebel activities around Kartong, but no tangible evidence could be established to that effect. Agency officers have been conducting secret surveillance in the area with the view of tracking the rebels without success.
The NIA analysis Director Ousman Bojang has been detained due to his refusal to accept the purported rebel presence in the country filed by his agents. Bojang is not convinced about such reports, which warranted his arrest. The NIA is yet to find any adverse evidence linking Mr. Bojang to having ties with dissident suspected rebels. His home(s) were searched, but no subversive documents were found. Bojang suffered brutal torture in the hands of the Jammeh assassin team, the NIA said.¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://listserv.icors.org/archives/gambia-l.html
