"No one is an idiot, if Yahya was an idiot he wouldn't have been capable of ruling us for over fifteen years with all our Buhabas and mister every disciplines up to today."

Suntou, to abuse in Africa, all you need is a Lemarr and Machete to cut and slash. Just ask your uncle, Uwaa. The other option is to kill. Now, do you need to think to execute the above? Ndoekey, efanang! For example, the way you jump around here, if you were in Alumhare someone would have fixed your Daa in a New York minute. Why do you think the SICK in Gambia is always on "Nyanal Borom Dekabi" mode? You think they think verses? No, they praying against the whip. Yaya has a special Lemarr for those in Waramba too. I'm sure you have heard of "Sembo 'Nyig Nya kuyaa".

Laye, your small mindedness is exposed yet again. There are thousand and one villagers who are not affected by Baba's masterpiece, Including myself. But it seems you are so petty, an independent analysis of interesting subjects like this stale you.
There are countless radio station, Internet chat forums where, books are criticise, poems subjected to vigorous commentaries, i refer you the 'riot of writers', and BBC radio five live weekly book/film critics.
I don't bothered with love poems Laye, I respect Baba thus airing my views on his poem. Bari as the Mandinka would say,, 'mondinya'.
Baba should distance himself completely from those whose sole way of looking at broad issues is been defensive. He should also distance himself from the clan crowds who unfortunately try to flood this topic for pettiness sake. Baba has written scores of satires, and critical pieces for over fifteen years, so Laye, Baba don't need your protection or defending. Carry on with man worshipping.
I think it is good for Baba and his writings that, people analyse his thoughts in completely different ways. The attitude of faking accolades is not taking us anywhere.
Thank you so so, a nice this so and so. This is nonsensical and buffoonery. Let us be critical with issues, and stop pretending. Laye, you should have known that by now. your are incapable of winding me up. I looked at the poem in two separate angle, one of them been the perception it will have on a villagers, bearing in mind, only Baba can say for sure what was going on in his mind at the time of penning the poem. The obvious reference which is too simplistic is to look at the poem, stanza by stanza. I took an overall view of the piece. The piece convey to us a critical message. Me being a villager is not an issue. I have lived in more than four cities in my life including our own, therefore, why should i be jitery over a few line poem?
Baba, be aware of false pretenders, they clamour to let others think for them, don't at all encourage them. There are those gambian writers who find it hard to leave out arrogance in their writings, their personal prejudices reflect in the smallest jot of ink drop, I have no time for those.
My final word on the piece is that, the usage 'idiot' was an exaggeration. No one is an idiot, if Yahya was an idiot he wouldn't have been capable of ruling us for over fifteen years with all our Buhabas and mister every disciplines up to today. Therefore underestimating our opponents makes us all idiots. If the poem is about some erstwhile editors who can't seems to leave people' privacy alone, again they are not idiots, since they have made us all fear their dirty hands. Laye, life is not a simple road leading to Brikama.

I think it's time you tone down the poems a bit. The Village Idiots are very jittery these days. You're causing too much heartache man.....tone it down bro, please. Perhaps a love poem will do next time. Village Idiots are romantic beasts too you know...

Indeed, indeed Suntou. You display a very keen sense of perception in your insightful and deep analysis of my poem. You definitively bring a fresh new perspective to it and propose a discursive angle that is hard to beat. Quite amazing, really. That's the spirit brother. Thanks and keep those sharp intellectual juices flowing.

The poetic license you use Baba allow me to see the village setting in the poem as allusive. The village idiot paints a disrespectful picture. It further cement the unfortunate attitude some has of villagers. It is good that you expose to us your village roots, which is fine but sadly your poem is too harsh on the villager in question.
The dissatisfaction in the poem is that, one would expect a season writer or commentators like yourself to be open minded and less sarcastic of your perceive targets. But in this case you were not.
The villager who may have incur your wrapt is place in and among the union of villagers and bashed for crimes only you felt the pain about.
I am only expressing my take on the poem. I am sure you willl allow for diverse analysis of it, since that is the essence of dropping it in the public.
Another vital area villagers will find discouraging is that, a man of your statue is fit to become a broad base leader, but if your ink depict a villager that tragic way, what hope should they have of Baba salvaging anything for them.
The poem is bigger than the few line Baba. Villagers continue to say, the setting was unhelpful. The villager in question may be guilty according to you, since we can only assume here, only you are sure. Is Yahya Jammeh indeed a villager? Are we villagers any more, yourself and all of us absconded villagers. The story continuous.
No offense intended.

Suntou,

I am surprised at your interpretation of my poem as an assault on villagers. I wonder where on earth you got the idea that I am calling all villagers idiots. Let me just say loud and clear that I am a villager, my father is a villager, and my mother is a villager. So are all my grandparents and great grandparents. Indeed, I come from an ancestry of villagers. That said, I will let you put the pieces together.

The latest Poem of Brother Gallah at Maafanta can be slice in many different bits. Moreso using poetic license to allow for different interpretation. Our famous villager is Yahya Jammeh. But this poem is not at all an affair for Yahya. We the villagers demand that, town folks allow us the respect we deserve. An end to little assault on villagers. Village idoit, indeed, they may have read the masters avoid the obvious. treating light weights issues with magic pens. Indirecting continuously whilst aiming higher. I say, respect to villagers.

And so the tears flowed….by Baba Galleh Jallow

And so the tears flowed
For the death of the children
Conceived in the throes of anger
Born into the arms of fear
Strangled by the claws of evil
Clad in garments of prickly good!!

And so the tears flowed
At the demise of honest thought
At the rape of the people’s intellect
The bastardization of love and piety
The ascendancy of slimy rot
Donning the robes of high order!!

And so the tears flowed
At the passing of the truthful bard
At the era of the village idiot
Turned saint
At the specter of the mean village crook
Turned champion defender of the poor!!
