They also call for President of CAF, Hayatou to resign. I think it is a bad
idea to focus the outrage at only one idiot Hayatou. This is way beyond
Hayatou and he is not worth much. The entire CAF is rotten to the core and
they must all go. Not only that CAF must be severely fined for their ban of
Togo. Before they all resign and CAF is disbanded to be regenerated.
I recommend that not only should the President of CAF Hayatou resign, the
entire CAF must resign and a new quality of Africans take their place. We
give them until the end of February 2010 to announce their resignations. All
of them. Should they refuse to ALL resign by this deadline, I suggest we
begin another football body for Africa and call it the Champions Cup Africa
(CAC). The first tournament to be hosted in Togo. I guarantee you no
African Nation will recognize the CAF any more if we do our marketing right. FIFA
will be forced to recognize the CAC if there are no teams palying in the
CAF Tourneys.
Meanwhile demonstrations must continue. I encourage citizens of other West
African countries to show solidarity with Togo and begin demonstrations in
their own countries to show their disdain of CAF.
We will give them till February-end to Resign. And if they all do resign,
the new CAF will be called by a different name to remove the stain and
disease of CAF from her spirits totally. I suggest the new officials rename it
something else. I will recommend ACCA - All Africa Cup of Champions.
I am dead serious about this. I will begin consulting with Togolese
officials in March if CAF does not resign and agree to a total overhaul. There
must be consequences for idiocy in Africa. Otherwise we are no different from
our animals. Haruna.
Mass protest in Togo against African Cup football ban
Organisers say they will keep up their protests
More than 10,000 people have demonstrated in Togo against a decision to
ban the country from the next two African Cup of Nations tournaments.
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) suspended Togo for withdrawing
from this year's competition in Angola.
Togo pulled out after an attack on its team bus killed two officials on 8
January, days before the tournament.
The protesters in the Togolese capital Lome called for the Caf president,
Issa Hayatou, to resign.
The protestors marched through the streets of Lome carrying placards
saying: "Issa Hayatou must go" and "Issa Hayatou, you have outstayed your
usefulness".
They ended up in a stadium where a resolution was read out, describing Mr
Hayatou as "a shame to Africa", and calling on all African countries to
support Togo in its stand against Caf.
The captain of the Togolese football team and Manchester City striker,
Emmanuel Adebayor, last week described Caf's decision as "monstrous".
Caf said it imposed the ban because the Togolese government had interfered
by insisting that the team withdraw, even though some members wanted to
play on.
The Togolese government has said it will take legal action against Caf.
The organisers of the protest in Lome say they will stage weekly
demonstrations in different parts of the country until Caf reverses its decision.
