The problem is, Yanks, he "won't get it", you guys have been down this road before, with the same result. The point is, Muhammad knows how to be provocative, he's IMHO doing it on purpose, and yet the same people fall for it every time. He's pushing people's buttons because he knows the same people are going to come out of the woodwork to fight with him.

And the verse doesn't use the word "steadfast" but "stand fast". Or, as quoted below (from the Yusuf Ali and Pickthall translations):

" Abdullah Yusuf Ali
       126. And if ye do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out: But if ye show patience, that is indeed the best (course)] for those who are patient.

      Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall
       126. If ye punish, then punish with the like of that wherewith ye were afflicted. But if ye endure patiently, verily it is better for the patient.

      Shakir
       126. And if you take your turn, then retaliate with the like of that with which you were afflicted; but if you are patient, it will certainly be best for those who are patient.

And getting back to the Abdel Haleem translation I quoted earlier, which uses modern standard English, "  126. If you [believers] have to respond to an attack, make your response proportionate, but it is best to [stand fast]."

I.e. be patient, as the other translations state. Which pretty much proves my point.

Sure you can "retaliate in kind" but the better thing to do, and what I was originally trying to say, is just to let it go. Especially when Muhammad has done this before, many times, and he knows that he's going to get a reaction/get attention. So just let him keep spewing the same "Darboe is a coward" stuff and using so-called nursery rhymes to attack people and then pretend he wasn't doing such and feigning apology/outrage when he's called on it. Just leave him alone and focus on the bigger picture.

I realize that I may be wasting my time here, and I know you're not going to listen to me, as you've offered up excuse after excuse as to why you think you have to sink into the mud with this guy. However, there's nothing I dislike worse, probably, than people misquoting or not accurately quoting, verses of the Qur'an to back up their points. Darboe and the UDP do not need defending, let their actions and record stand on its own merits, and they most certainly don't need defending from people who childishly and immaturely continuously engage in mud slinging with people they know to be mud slingers in the first place, and worse use the Qur'an in their attemtps to justify their mud slinging.

I'm sure there are a lot of people on this list who support Darboe but you don't see them piping up every time Muhammad Drammeh utters a word, because they know who they're dealing with and I'd venture to say they also know that their energies would be better utilized elsewhere.

Anyway, Inshallah, this will be the last post from me on this topic.

Ginny
