Folks/Compatriots

It's 'What We Were Supposed To Be in The First Place (a democratic Republic) Against What We Became'. Be it Jawara's and/or Yahya's. It without doubt in both cases we were/are not. To me and many I know there is little relevancy in comparing the 2. However if we did many would agree Jawara would comfortably win that contest however Yahya could score good in very few areas as well. So what.......both are a dictatorship!

Lets begin the debate on ideas to make our country 'A Functional Institutional Democratic Republic'. We've a lot of work if we're to leave a hopeful situation for a generation of Gambian yet to be born. It will take time, its difficult and will be expensive. Bad news no body but us has to do it or it will not be done. Good news we are up for it if we do the right things.

We will alway differ on the choice of who should be the next president. That's ok and not required in a democracy. All we need is a democratically level playing field for free and inform Gambians. Their choice we have to live with until they make another choice.

What we couldn't differ and is not far-fetch to ask citizens to rally behind this basic founding creed - A democratic republic of The Gambia.

The acquisition such founding creed will begin to see many/most of what agitates us, angers us, strangles us and trampled our basic rights disappear with the willful dictates of informed, involved and vibrant citizens.

Partly the subjects/topics of discussions disappoints self and readers in a national discourse. Let us encourage freely expressing our views and ideas whether others agree or not, like or not. The key is civility!

Regards.

Burama
