First International Islamic Trade Fair to be Held in Jeddah
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 Asia Pulse - The Islamic Development Bank is
inviting Islamic businessmen from around the world to attend the First
International Islamic Trade Fair to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Islamic Development Bank is supporting this special initiative from
March 18 to 23 next year aimed at fostering economic development and social
progress of the world's Islamic communities, said its president, Dr. Ahmed
Mohamed.

He said in a statement that the fair is to be held in conjunction with
the 25th anniversary of the bank.

"The fair is being organised to stimulate trade and investment and the
IDB has invited over 50 countries to attend, bringing together differing
cultures, languages, currencies and traditions linked by one almighty
belief," he said.

The fair has been specifically developed to provide an outstanding
opportunity to quickly and effectively increase the level of business
between Islamic countries.

Hundreds of products will be on display at the exhibition and many
thousands of others offered for export by the exhibitors and visiting
trade delegations.

The national stands will exhibit simple products, reflecting a country's
traditional crafts and skills, to highly sophisticated systems utilising
state-of-the-art technology from some of the world's most advanced
industrial nations.

"And everything in-between: from clothing, chemicals, minerals and
commodities to foodstuffs, transport, furniture, building materials and
equipment," he said.

The event is being organised by the Jeddah Marketing Board, an
organisation within the recently-established Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, which aims to internationally market Jeddah, located in the
Western Province of Saudi Arabia, as a major business and leisure
destination.

The venue for the fair is the Jeddah International Exhibition and
Convention Centre (JIEC).
