I must confess to you that I am one of those not bored by that wonderful
piece. One might not share all your thoughts with you, but can never deny
that they are objectively worded.
I am not sure and doubt so much if the independent ideas of a lot Gambians in
the UK and abroad will be shown on the Gambia TV. President Jammeh went on
record to say that the TV belongs to him just like a lot of other tax payers'
properties. May be just as you rightly said, unless if he is a changed guy. I
only hope that those who will be offering interviews to these two GRTS
employees are well aware of the fact that they are not going to be in control
of the editing and presenting. And therefore, their interviews might be
cunningly used to portray what they might not meant to say.
On the issue that the demonstration staged in Washington to be reported in
the Gambia is not new. Over a year ago, a similar one was reported. Only that
it was not correctly reported. Just to say that a demonstration took place,
does not suffice. What matters most is the message on the banners. I am not
sure that was included in the report. WAS IT? And also, if even only one
person demonstrated, what matters most is still the message.
Is Yahya a changed man after his trip to the UN? I think only time and his
deeds will tell us. That would just be such a quick turn around and if that
should happen, I am one of the first who will applaud. However, history
thought us differently, but hey, who knows?
