The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh
Wednesday afternoon received another special envoy of the president of the
Republic of Senegal, Maitre Abdoulaye Wade.
The envoy, Djibouletti Kah, minister of Environment and Wildlife Protection
was accompanied to the presidency by the Senegalese High Commissioner to The
Gambia, His Excellency Diame Signate and other government officials from
Dakar.
His visit came barely 24 hours after Senegal’s Foreign Affairs minister,
Madike Niang was dispatched to Banjul to convey President Wade’s gratitude
to his Gambian counterpart for his commitment to the Casamance peace
initiative.
Minister Kah in a brief interview with the State House press corps
commented on the relationship between the two countries, which he said is
very cordial, while recalling the befitting welcome accorded to President
Wade during his recent visit to The Gambia.
The envoy explained that they were at the presidency to again thank the
Gambian leader for his efforts in promoting peace between The Gambia and
Senegal, while praying for continued peace and prosperity in the two
countries.
