Folks,

Mr Kebba Wally Foon is a politician who lived all his life in Bakau cape point. He have two children if I remember right a boy and a girl. The boy's name is Kebba Foon jr who was a good friend to Babu sey of Denmark because they are same age group. I remembered he was living in US because during those time of his absence, we are always meeting with the father for fishing which was one of his favourite sport. I am not sure where he (kebba foon Jr) is now neither have a clue if the old man is alive or not. Edi

Ousman,

There is an entry for a Kebba Wally Foon in the Historical Dictionary of the Gambia authored by Messrs Gailey & Hughes. The said Kebba Wally Foon was said to have been borned in 1902. He was an Accountant, a Businessman and a Politician who was among the founders of the Gambia Liberation Party in 1957. He lived in the UK in the 1950's where he founded the Gambia League. No date of death was not stated for him meaning that when the Dictionary was published in 1999, he was still alive. He was a Gambian nationalist and anti-colonial campaigner.

I hope this scanty info might be of value.

Best wishes
Balo

Thanks Joe for the clarification. I don't know Kebba Foon of STGDP, thus my assumption. Obviously I am way off target.

Ousman, I doubt if that is the same Kebba Foon, member of STGDP.  I know for a fact that Kebba did not start college in 1968 or there about.  In fact I doubt if he was at Nusrat in 1968.  My guess is he came to the US in the early 80s.

Folks,
I received the following email from a total stranger. All caveats apply here...standard precautions. I presumed she is looking for the erstwhile president of STGDP, but I may be off base. If any of you is familiar with the subject of the enquiry, could you kindly forward them this email. The time period she is alluding to is 1968/69.

This may sound very odd, but when I was a teenager in upstate New York, a student came and stayed with neighbors for the summer before attending college.  He was from The Gambia and his name was Kebba Foon.  I believe his father was in a position of power in The Gambia and his mother was British.  I do not wish to offend you in any way, and having looked up the name Kebba Foon on the internet, I see that it is quite possible that I might, but if you know of the Kebba Foon I am talking of, would you mind letting me know how to reach him, or letting him know how to reach me?  My name is the same as it was in 1968 when he was in Vestal, New York, where he stayed with John and June.  The Kebba I knew was a very kind young man to a young teenager girl, and I have wonderful memories of the time we spent together - his favorite song was "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding...

I will be traveling to Africa this summer on a mission trip - I guess that is what has put him on my mind.

I thank you very much for anything you can do to help me contact my old friend.

Sincerely,

Terry Canfield
