You got me laughing hard Haruna on your analogy of the bad vs the evil criminals. I concur France may be guilty which is exactly how humans should feel when they do something wrong and then pay up!
I would rather be assimilated with fewer rail roads and decent educational system than a monarchy that doesn't know I exist.
How about 'Coalition of the Awoken' to lead the pack in Africa or better even Malaise!!!! You choose.

Thank you Demba for the kind words. I take after your resourcefulness and generousity of spirit.
Perhaps France feels guilty for its crimes in colonialism. If there is a scramble for Africa again, I'd like France to take Gambia. (Just kidding). But I mean in the arena of comparative criminals, France is way down the list. And they are making ammends to La-Guinea. What I am working on now is a significant union between Mali-LaGuinea-Burkina-Ivory Coast. WOnder what we'll call it. First things first. Please help me think of a name for this country. I promise you if you help us with the name, we will get the union in or lifetime or you can colonize me and my family. What? I got my knucklehead cousin warning me of Demba's appetite to colonize other folk. And wouldn't you rather Demba colonize our family than the British? "speak for your friggin self, I don't wanna hear it." She says.

Thanks for sharing... that is a great gesture from France and is the moral thing to do.
Although France has their own shortcomings, but I think they have always been more generous to their colonies than the British. Most french colonies in Africa were left in a better shape than the English.
It is great to see them coming to the rescue of the Ivorian people and I hope they lobby for a complete debt write off for Ivory Coast... they deserve a break.

Côte d’Ivoire : la France annonce une aide “exceptionnelle” de 400 millions d’euros
La France va apporter dans les prochains jours "un soutien financier exceptionnel de 400 millions d’euros" à la Côte d’Ivoire, pour aider notamment à satisfaire les besoins urgents des populations et de la ville d’Abidjan, a annoncé mardi la ministre des finances, Christine Lagarde.
La ministre a rencontré mardi son homologue ivoirien, Charles Koffi Diby, lors d’une réunion de la zone franc à N’Djamena, au lendemain de l’arrestation de Laurent Gbagbo par les forces d’Alassane Ouattara, avec le soutien de l’ONU et de l’armée française.
"Plein soutien de la France"
Christine Lagarde a assuré "la Côte d’Ivoire du plein soutien de la France dans cette période de réconciliation et de reconstruction", selon un communiqué de son ministère. "Christine Lagarde a annoncé que la France apporterait dans les prochains jours, dès que les circuits financiers et la sécurité seront rétablis, un soutien financier exceptionnel de 400 millions d’euros", ajoute Bercy.
Cette aide est "destinée, dans un premier temps, à financer les dépenses d’urgence pour les populations, la ville d’Abidjan et le redémarrage des services publics essentiels", précise la ministre. Elle "doit également servir, dans un second temps, à relancer l’activité économique et à permettre l’apurement des arriérés vis-à-vis des institutions internationales".
Cette annonce intervient alors que le rôle de la France dans l’arrestation de Laurent Gbagbo commence à devenir sujet à polémique.
LA FRANCE A ÉTÉ "ABSOLUMENT REMARQUABLE ET INATTAQUABLE"
Mardi matin, le ministre de la défense, Gérard Longuet, s’est dit "certain" que "des images de toute l’opération" qui a conduit à la chute de Laurent Gbagbo seraient "disponibles", et montreraient que les soldats français n’ont pas participé à l’arrestation de l’ex-président ivoirien.
Le porte-parole du gouvernement, François Baroin, a jugé que la France a été "absolument remarquable et inattaquable" et "n’acceptera aucune leçon de morale de quiconque ni aucune leçon politique".
Autre son de cloche, l’ancien ministre français des affaires étrangères et conseiller de l’ex-président ivoirien, Roland Dumas, a accusé "l’armée française, sur ordre politique, (d’avoir) livré Laurent Gbagbo" à son adversaire Alassane Ouattara.
"La vérité, elle est claire, c’est que l’armée française, sur ordre politique, a livré à son adversaire M. Laurent Gbagbo. Elle l’a même amené au domicile de l’adversaire, un peu comme dans les traditions d’autrefois, de l’Antiquité", a déclaré M. Dumas sur France Inter.
"Ce qui me déplaît dans cette histoire, c’est qu’on essaie de raconter des billevesées aux Français. Il ne faut pas prendre les Français pour des enfants niais et idiots", a ajouté l’ancien avocat et ancien ministre socialiste, ardent défenseur de M. Gbagbo. Selon lui, en intervenant militairement en Côte d’Ivoire, la France a choisi "la plus mauvaise des méthodes parce que ça laissera des traces dans les pays africains".
