      Press Release
Announcement of a meeting for Gambians in London and United Kingdom for Saturday 3rd October 2009

We concerned Gambian currently in London and the United Kingdom, Conscious of our civic responsibilities, appalled by utter lawlessness that prevail in the Gambia, noting that our constitution accords to all citizens in alienable rights and freedom including protection from unlawful arrests, detention, torture and ill treatment and protection of the law and fair trial, convinced that concerted action is required by Gambians at home and in the diaspora to force the Gambia Government to respect and uphold these basic rights and freedom.

On that note we are calling on all Gambian in London and all over the United Kingdom for a meeting on Saturday 3 rd October 2009 at 3 o’clock prompt.

With the present lawlessness and also dynamics to reorganise and reactivate the participation of Gambian citizens in the United Kingdom in pro-democracy advocacy to change the political landscape of our country, we feel that is a need for a united voice, a unite effort and a united Gambia one umbrella organisation civil organisation here in United Kingdom to continue actively engaging UK Government and key partners and other stakeholders of Gambia’s political process.

Following recent Amnesty International Gambia Day of Action, we feel that there is a need for continual engagement, coordination and dialogue with Gambian and Non Gambian to restore human rights, freedom of expression, rule of law and functioning democracy in the Gambia , so we are appealing to all Gambians to come on to be part of that process.

Any interest person is welcome.Come one! Come all! Come out to stop the rule of fear! Long Live the Gambia !
