Recently, a high-level American politician said, "While Africa may be
important, it doesn't fit into [America's] national strategic interests."
Is this true? Why should people in America be concerned with what happens
in Africa? In this age of globalization, are we inexorably tied to one
another economically, socially and politically? Do we as a world power have
a moral obligation to help those suffering from war, famine and/or disease?
Ambassador Bogosian, the Special Assistant for the Greater Horn of Africa
Initiative for USAID, will address these issues during his lecture on
September 28th. His experience in Africa and around the world is extensive
and will offer participants a wonderful international perspective.
Ambassador Bogosian served as the Special Coordinator for the State
Department in Rwanda and Burundi from 1995-1997, the Special Envoy to
Somolia from 1994-1995, the Ambassador to Chad from 1990-1993, the
Ambassador to Niger from 1985 - 1988 and the Deputy Chief of Mission in
Sudan from 1976-1979.
Please join us for an engaging and informative luncheon with Ambassador
Bogosian.
