Paraphrasing a Mandinka proverb, “You don’t kill a lizard found drinking at the water jug (Jeebinda); not for fear of the lizard but for protecting the jug.”

I hope you understand.

Thanks Malanding,

Very true, but it would have been very useful if you and Demba mentioned this concern days ago when Karim repeated call me a criminal and other names just for my criticism of Jawara. I tried to avoid him but it seems he will not stop as others chip in, he seem to be getting braver by the days and at every comment on this thread, Karim unabatedly and unconstrained, repeated hurl insults at me and I had no choice but to retaliate...

Kind regards,

Kejau

The internet has become very harmful to what used to be the one thing Gambians are known for, civility (all smiles and no problem). Looks like we cannot discuss our differences without an ugly shouting match, name-calling and like. Thank God it hasn’t rear its ugly head yet in our physical bantabas (I hope)! “A house divided against itself cannot stand”,(Abraham Lincoln)

Hi All:
The PPP regime seems as bad as Yaya Jammeh, with their sycophants, fabricating very nasty accusations against anyone who dare criticize them and their leader. Yaya has copied the same from PPP and has perfected it. Those of us and our parents who were victims of the PPP regimes dirty tactics will bear witness to this. For instance:

Sheriff Saikou Sisay, who was one time a finance minister before his death, with his family and friends were victims of this witch hunt. He formed the PPA in the late 1970s, and his house was constantly watched by the the special branch, the then NIA, and many family members and friends lost their jobs if they are seen visiting his house. The PPP regime never forgive Kudang and people from Kudang for this and they have constantly been sideline and refused seats in the PPP as MP for years. It is very well known fact that the people from Kudang are one of the first western educate people and the most educated comparative in The Gambia and still boasts of doctors, professors, engineers and other professionals around the world and in The Gambia. In fact, Jawara may never have been president if Dr. Lamin Marenah, my uncle, a native of Kudang, who was Agric director then, had accepted the protectorate elders and not referred them to Sir Dawda, he mentioned this in his book.

This is the reason I said it is an insult to our intelligence to call Jawara a democrat.

Kind regards,

Kejau

OK, Karim. Now you will be dragged in court for defamation of character, even though you are very poor. Do let us meet up too and talk about this. Even if I have been questioned and not charged as you alleged, how does that make me a rapist? You have no respect for your parents, that is why you insult others parents. I respect your parents and will not insult yours.

Karim,

You are a man of straw and no gooder, who cannot even keep a family, that is the reason your wife left you, otherwise you will be dragged into court for defamation of character. I contributed with others here to pay for your asylum claim's legal fees, yet you sit here insulting me for just criticizing the man who rob us of democracy and because of whom we have a dictator back home. Let us address issues and stop attacking each other on personal grounds. I avoided you, but you think I am avoiding you because I am scared of confronting you. I am due in London at the end of the month, so spare the good folks here with your tirades and let us make a date and debate this face to face, if you are a man! I have known you for years but avoid you like a plague, because you seem to be a man with nothing to loose.

Faye
It is criminal soldiers like Kejau from High School to Security having turn arrogant and the uniform enable them to distance themselves from their families, the common man in the street and every realities of Gambia before July 1994 are the only to make such a shameful statement. If Jawara why did he not stay in Gambia but he run to come and claim asylum in UK with a visitors visa while a student at university extension in the Gambia. I am in the UK electoral register and a resident London Borough of Enfield and certainly waiting from the threat of dragging me to court by this criminal soldier turned a freedom fighter when things fall apart.

Folks ..May i join you to celebrate Sir. Dawda's Birthday and may the Almighty give him many more years to come...He is a true African who did not only for Gambians but Africa and the world...

A great statesman who promoted peace and respect and the world thanked him for negociating peace between Iran and Iraq during their 8 years war..Infact i remember many Gambians went abroad after that war without visas for his leadership and image he has shown on Gambia and his people.

Am sure many Gambians among others are greatful to him though he made some mistakes but he is still one of the CHAMPS on the continent...So he deserves a big Kudos than to call him a dictator...Btw i share the same month of birth with him and i wish him well..

Respect for the old man

Niamorkono...
