Over 200 volunteers from Bati Ndarr in Upper Saloum District, Central River
Region (CRR) North recently transplanted rice on President Jammeh’s farm in
the village.
Addressing the volunteers shortly after the exercise, Alhaji Ganyie Touray,
the governor of the CRR commended the people for their patriotism and love
for the Gambian leader.
He acknowleged the important role Gambian women play in the attainment of
food self-sufficiency in the region and urged them to maintain the unity and
coopération, and also strengthen their unflinching support for the president
and the APRC.
Hon. Sainey Mbye, National Assembly Member for Upper Saloum urged the
youths of his constituency to take farming seriously, stressing that
agriculture is the backbone of the economy. He also called on them to foster
unity and cooperation.
The regional farm coordinator, Abdoulie Boye thanked the women groups for
their efforts in agricultural production. He also commended them for coming
out in large numbers to work on the farm, which he opined was due to the
love they have for the Gambian leader.
Other speakers included Jall Ceesay, the president of the women group and
