Cameroon had for the first time registered remarkably, its diaspora citizens to vote in this the landmark elections in Cameroon. Biya is not exceptionally popular but neither are his opponents for reasons of comprehensive culpability in the student massacre that occured some years ago. Both Biya and some of those presenting themselves as his conteders are blamed for the carnage. I will explore coalitions and circumstance which I think should yield compound dividends in such an atmosphere of emulsified culpability.

Cameroon is poised to realize the benefits of acquiring new territory from its longtime conflict with Nigeria and new oil revenues. Cameroon also inherits a bilingual English-French culture which should be a hallmark foundation for unity. Haruna.

La Cour suprême camerounaise a validé mercredi matin deux nouvelles candidatures à l’élection présidentielle, précédemment récusées, portant à 23 le nombre définitif des candidats - dont le président sortant Paul Biya - qui s’affronteront le 9 octobre, a-t-on constaté. D’abord rejetées par la Commission électorale, les candidatures d’Anicet Ekane du Mouvement africain pour la nouvelle indépendance et la démocratie (Manidem), et de Daniel Soh Fone du Parti socialiste unifié (PSU), ont été validées, a indiqué Alexis Dipanda Mouelle, premier président de la Cour suprême, au cours d’une audience de près de 13 heures. La Commission Elections Cameroon (Elecam) estimait que les deux candidats n’avaient pas produit le bon certificat d’imposition. La Cour suprême n’a pas retenu ces arguments.L’opposant historique, John Fru Ndi, est également candidat à ce scrutin à tour unique. Opposition et société civile accusent M. Biya d’avoir verrouillé le système électoral pour s’assurer une réélection sans difficultés.
