Suntou,

It is true that I was young and naive at the time, believing that Jammeh and the "soldiers with a difference" should be given the benefit of the doubt. It is true also that the Gambia was an egg on the rocks, delicate, vulnerable, and needing handling with utmost care, which was the point of myt argument. Of course, with the benefit of wisdom and experience, Halifa Sallah saw much farther than I did. He was right in both rejecting the post of Secretary offered by the AFPRC as well as in defying Decree No. 4. So I concede defeat in that debate that took place back in 1994. Halifa was right. I was wrong in criticizing him for refusing the post of secretary and for defying decree No. 4. I hold Halifa Sallah in the greatest possible respect and have enjoyed the privilege of sharing many a public forum with him ever since. I am happy to have expressed my opinion on our country as I understood it then. I continue to express my opinion on our country as I understand it now. Thanks for digging up this interesting episode. It has given me an opportunity to publicly grant Mr. Sallah his well-deserved victory in that historic debate.

An Interesting exchange between Halifa and Galleh. As the writer described Halifa's actions, "prophetic". No Comment. This time the talk was started by a PDOISard or Halifarite
