The Central Committee of the People’s Democratic
Organisation for Independence and Socialism, PDOIS regret to announce the death
of Dr Omar Kumbamang Touray, a member of the Central committee of PDOIS. The
PDOIS leadership wishes to extend its condolence to his child, the entire
family and all party members who knew this wonderful human being with
impeccable intellect and human values.

Did you ever wanted to know where your car is right now in
The Gambia? Or even where your car was yesterday night? Take back control and
locate your vehicle 24 hours a day using technologies like GPS, Internet, GSM
and GPRS.

Dr Omar Touray earned the confidence of all his colleagues
because of his clarity of vision, humility, love of truth, commitment to
justice and devotion to country and people.

Another torch of sincerity has ceased to burn and another
flower of reason has ceased to blossom. Dr Omar Touray, a member of the Central
Committee of PDOIS who went abroad after the coup of 1994 with the strategic
objective of being preserved for future PDOIS leadership just in case other
members of the PDOIS leadership met their death has now left us earlier than
expected. The sad news that he has passed away after a short illness was
received on Thursday 14 July 2011.

Omar had all the characteristics of a future President for
The Gambia. He was an erudite intellectual, a publicist with many manuscripts,
a scientist per excellence with expertise in animal husbandry. He was among the
crop of diligent scientists who were recruited to conduct research at the ITC
on the NDAMA cattle so that the breed could be improved to facilitate the
availability of milk and meat for home consumption and export.

Dr Omar Touray sacrificed his international appointment with
the ITC to stand as a candidate for elections. He continued to serve the party
and the country until the coup of 1994 when the Central Committee considered it
prudent for him to go abroad so that we could preserve our leadership against
liquidation should those who took over decide to liquidate PDOIS resistance by
bloodshed.

We were planning for his return after the current electoral
cycle so as to prepare him for future leadership both at the level of the party
and the country. History has indeed broken its pen too early. There is still
more to be written about Omar through deeds trapped in his chest waiting to be
released.

It was his behest to witness a liberated and prosperous Gambia.
It is now our duty to work day and night to bring about such a Gambia to pay
tribute to his legacy.

Dr Omar Touray was a model Gambian who hailed from Sami
Karantaba. He was born on 6th September 1954. He is man of the soil who is down
to earth, modest, and humble and has no iota of sectionalism in him. He had the
potential to be a future President of the Gambia. His sudden death is a great
loss to our party and the Country.

We will not mourn his death by tears and wishing him eternal
peace. We know that as long as a single Gambian is distressed by hunger and
fear Omar cannot be at peace in his grave. We will mourn his death by
redoubling our efforts to ensure that we build a country of liberty and
prosperity which each person would be proud to own.

Omar will always remain in our hearts and minds forever. His
spirit shall serve as a perpetual inspiration for us to devote ourselves
totally to the political and economic emancipation of our people.

He will be interned at his home village today after the casket
is received from the airport.
