General Notice; 15th April Planned Demonstration –Central London
Following approval by the London Metropolitan Police, Kensington and
Charing Cross Constabularies, The United Democratic Party [UK] in conjunction
with the Coalition of Human Rights Gambia[ UK] wish to inform the entire
Gambian Community and friends of the Gambia living in the United Kingdom,
particularly those living in and around London, that a peaceful demonstration
will be held outside the Nigerian and Gambian High Commissions/Embassies on
Thursday, 15th April 2010 to protest against the harsh, perverse and
political motivated imprisonment of UDP’s Campaign Manager Mr Femi Peters, and
the complicity of Nigerian Mercenary judges and Magistrates in the
stifling and erosion of fundamental rights and freedoms in the Gambia
particularly the right to fair trial.
The demonstration will kick-off at 13.00hrs at the Nigerian Embassy near
Trafalgar Square [nearest tube stations- Oxford Circus and Embankment] and
will then proceed to the Gambian High Commission at 14.30hrs [nearest tube
station- Kensington High Street]. Placards and T-shirts will be available.
Demonstrators may also bring along their old shoes to symbolically stone the
monster.
All demonstrators are advised to be good natured and to demonstrate
peacefully.
