Much obliged Karim.

Along this theme, I wish to thank Corinne(HRW), Tom(CPJ), Our Lady of Gambia's conscience Fatou Jaw Manneh, and my private counsel in the UK Peter Hollingsworth, and the Hon. Mai Fatty, Chairman of The Gambia Moral Congress Party, for their efforts however consequential to yielding you transient relief. I have been and continue to be confident you are in no imminent danger of expeditious deportation to Gambia against your free will.

In conclusion, and on your behalf, I apologise to Prime Minister Gordon Brown for the distasteful comment you made in your less sober moment of frustration and fear for your life. As you have intimated to me, the comment was unfortunate and untrue and you recognized it later as having been made out of temporary insanity. This apology by you will stand you in good stead as we close ranks to bear on the Home Office for your more permanent freedom without further prejudice.

I look forward to hearing you again, bigger and better. Haruna.

Government of the Gambia has on Friday instituted a National Disaster Management Council at a ceremony held in State House, Banjul. (institutionalization of Gambia's first agency for Disaster Response follows enactment of National Disaster Management Act by the National assembly in 2008.

This nationwide disaster council comprised fourteen members and is chaired by Vice President Ajaratou Isatou Njie-Saidy .In his inaugural statements, President Jammeh urged the new council to be proactive and not just about managing disasters but to create public awareness on disaster prevention, reduction and response.

The UN Resident Coordinator [name] said the setting up of this council represents a milestone in the effective management of disaster and environment.

[What a joke!!! I refer you to Ellen's archives for my notes on Disaster management and floods of the Gambia River. Haruna. What the UN will sanction for job-security is beyond me.]
