Hi:
Alieu, the heavyweights (Nokia) like to play by the rules which seems to be a
foreign concept for African governments. They would rather deal with our
former colonialist who seem to have taught as the art of underhanded tactics
and kickbacks to get deals very well.

Gai: The new GSM provider in The Gambia would be wise to sign roaming
agreements with other providers World Wide. if anything, they will benefit
greatly from it. In addition, an arrangement with an ISP like Quantum to
allow for internet connections over the new networks would also be quite
profitable for both. This, in lieu of all the NGO personnel and tourists we
geth there. Finally, SMS (Short Messaging service) or in other words, two
way paging could possible be massive. Sending text information is much
cheaper than voice transmissions. In fact, in Europe SMS is si popular that
over 1 Billion messages get sent monthly. All this is food for thought!
Except that I am divulging this info grudgingly because of all the
underhanded dealings which surrounded this deal.
