The nomination for the Wuli West by-election will take place today, Monday
April 18th, 2011, at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) office in
Basse Mansajang, Upper River Region.

Today’s nomination will kick-start the race for the National Assembly seat,
until. Voting will take place on the 28th of this month. Until at the time
of going to press, it was certain that APRC and NADD will be contesting for
the seat.

The election to fill the seat came following the sudden demise of the late
Hon. Bekai Camara, who was a serving National Assembly member for the
constituency. He passed away on the 6th March 2011 at the RVTH after a brief
illness, and was laid to rest in his hometown of Baja Kunda in Wuli West.

It would be recalled that in the January 2007 National Assembly Elections,
the APRC polled 3760 votes, while NADD polled 2691 votes. The number of
registered voters was 10,851. Voter turnout was 59 percent.
