Borders (RSF) calls on the Nigerian authorities to immediately free a
journalist who was arrested after publishing a leaked police report about a
controversial operation by the State Security Service (SSS) and reminds
them that the confidentiality of journalists’ sources must be

the SSS at the end of February and was held for a week for refusing to
reveal his sources

: un journaliste arrêté après la divulgation d’un rapport
     du chef de la police Reporters sans frontières (RSF) demande la
libération immédiate et sans condition d’un journaliste nigérian arrêté
après avoir dévoilé un rapport officiel sur une opération de la sécurité
d’Etat et rappelle la nécessité de respecter le secret des sources.  Samuel
Ogundipe, journaliste pour le site d’investigation Premium Times,
est détenu depuis mardi 14 août

RSF. Nous demandons la libération immédiate et sans condition de ce
journaliste qui n’a rien à faire derrière les barreaux.” Le reporter avait
obtenu et diffusé le rapport du directeur de la police, Ibrahim Idriss, qui
met en cause le chef de la sécurité d’Etat, Lawal Daura. Le document
l’accuse d’avoir mené une opération “motivée par des intérêts politiques
personnels” et sans concertation avec la présidence ou les autres agences
de sécurité. L’intervention des agents de renseignement avait empêché la
tenue d’une réunion au Sénat ayant pour agenda la destitution du président
de l’institution qui a récemment rejoint l’opposition

police, contre la presse, rappelant que deux journalistes étaient restés en
détention pendant 10 jours après avoir publié un article critique sur la
sécurité d’Etat en janvier dernier.  Le mois suivant, le chef du bureau du
quotidien privé Daily Independent à Abuja, Tony Ezimakor, était resté
en détention une semaine
