Dear Haruna,

You've seen the signs: Our president with a Hitler moustache, the one that
read, "We Vote With Bullets," or "We Came Unarmed (This Time)." Or my
personal favorite, "Thank you, Fox News, For Keeping Me Infromed."

But here's what you haven't seen: the corporate lobbyists who are funding
and directing so much of the anti-Obama movement. As the indispensable
progressive blog Think Progress reported: "Despite these attempts to make the
'movement' appear organic, the principle organizers of the local events are
actually the lobbyist-run think tanks Americans for Prosperity and
FreedomWorks. The two groups are heavily staffed and well funded."

And all that staff and funding has one goal: to tear down President Obama
and elect Republicans. Republicans have their deep-pocketed special
interests. We've got you.

Don't get me wrong. Dissent is always patriotic, and while I disagree with
the Tea Party protestors, I strongly defend their rights and respect their
activism. I just wonder why their signs don't carry a disclaimer saying,
"Organized and Funded by Corporate Special Interests."

Here's the danger: The Tea Party has just released its list of targeted
candidates, and four of our sitting senators - including California's own
Barbara Boxer - are right there on top. And we all know who their real villain
is: President Obama.

So if you're worried about lobbyists and corporations pouring money into
anti-Obama protests, give to those who are fighting to defend our president.

Nothing less than President Obama's legacy and vision for lasting change
is at stake here. With only six months until Election Day, now is the time
to come to our president's defense - with a gift to the DSCC. Your immediate
contribution will help President Obama by pushing back on Republican lies,
building winning grassroots campaigns and getting each and every
Democratic voter to the polls.

The far right's piggy bank is open for business, and it's full and fat.
These guys are raking in and spreading around the dough at an eye-popping
pace. Tea Party darling Marco Rubio brought in $3.6 million last quarter -
yes, you read that right - and groups like former half-term Governor Palin's
SarahPAC, the right-wing Family Research Council and Sen. Jim DeMint's
Senate Conservatives Fund are right there with a big assist.

That doesn't even include corporate cash. The Citizens United decision
earlier this year means the big banks and other multinational corporations can
spend whatever they please on their anointed candidates. And you can bet
those corporations care about their own bottom line on Wall Street - not
working families on Main Street.

The clock is ticking. It's time to fight the far right and protect
President Obama. He needs us. Now.

Look, I know it's a shame, but in politics, money talks, and right now the
corporate money is shouting. It's shouting in lobbyists' donations to
far-right Republicans, it's shouting in the financing of protest movements,
it's shouting in massive, unrestricted corporate advertising. We need you to
speak up. We need you to give voice to progress, hope, change and the
middle class American Dream. We need you to support the DSCC.

We beat the corporate special interests and the far right fringe in 2008
and elected President Obama. Let's beat 'em again in 2010.

Sincerely,

Paul Begala
