Gambia opposition 'not divided'

The newly appointed leader of the opposition alliance in Gambia says they
still have a united front to fight the government, despite the absence of
the National Convention Party - Gambia's main opposition party before the
1994 coup.

Ousaimou Darboe, who was elected by a coalition of three other opposition
parties told the BBC their movement was capable of winning elections in
October.

Mr Darboe said he welcomed the prospect of being a candidate to challenge
President Yahaya Jammeh.

The National Convention Party refused to join the alliance because they
wanted their candidate to lead the group.
