The Constitution has been there since 1997 and theissue of the age discriminatory nature was not challenged by the UDP andDarboe. We used the same unjust constitution to tell ECOWAS to intervene ifJammeh fails to uphold the constitution. It will be hypocritical if we all of asudden are criticising the constitution just because some of the provisions donot suit my Honourable aunt. This is wrong and immoral. There are so manyqualified women to fill the position and Dr Isatou Touray could be appointed tofill the position as temporary VP and once my honourable aunt qualifies by lawthen Dr Touray could be redeployed. In as much as I want my honourable aunt tobe VP I do not want the Supreme Law of the land to be violated just for hersake. We promised on a rule of law, a transitional program to make sure thatwhosoever takes over will have the foundations set for the next government. Wewant to end impunity and blatant disregard of the law. We want to end revengeand start a reconciliatory process for a new Gambia, one nation one Gambia onepeople. Any departure from this is a failure. This is really becoming embarrassing. My greatest fear is a Barrow failure. I dread this greatly. If Barrow fails, Iwill take as a failure personally on my part. This is why I am extremelycritical of anyone who is out to give his cabinet a negative image. However inas much as we try to defend Barrow, he must take charge with all the executivepowers he has. He will be judged on his record and despite some elements givinghis wrong advice; the buck stops at him. He will be finally responsible. Someof his cabinet ministers must also be honest with him and not take advantage ofhis leniency. Barrow should have no fear of the UDP as they will never be ableto impeach him. The UDP cannot even pass a bill to amend the constitution, therefore what is his fear? H E Barrow must act and he must act fast. This isnot right and it is becoming embarrassing
