Okay, I’m going to vent a little while trying to ask what can be done, if anything…

I’ve used JFW since the beginning of ’94 or thereabouts. I worked for Henter-Joyce back in the 90’s. And for years I’ve trained others on the use of computers & the Internet with JAWS. But I had some sort of stroke or something a few years ago, and seem to have lost a ton of what I know I knew about AT. Then, before relearning enough to feel comfortable on my computer again, it developed problems. So I went to using my iPhone solely for everything. Maybe I was depressed I don’t know exactly. I was disgusted, that’s for sure.

Anyway, for what I plan on doing, am about to start officially doing, I need JFW. So last year I started relearning it mostly all over again.

Here’s the issue I have. I lost much, but I remember some. And I sure don’t remember JAWS having such crappy sounding pronunciations of words.

Whoever programmed that aspect of JFW probably shouldn’t be deciding the proper pronunciations for the English language dictionary. I don’t even think that’s the actual issue. Many pronunciations just plain suck, and are slightly absurd. I don’t know what else the issue might actually be – but it’s definitely an annoyance at best.

It’s probably some separate dictionary thing for reading the same words in a sentence, because that seems to change it and make it even worse. And those of you who know, know, that many of the single word pronunciations are already bad enough.

Hell, I’ve thought of volunteering my services, my time, to improve the crappy pronunciation problem for #FreedomScientific.

It makes me waste so much time checking words when I’m trying to write, it’s ridiculous! Yes, I’m already used to some of the mispronunciations, but that’s not the point here. This should not be this crappy in the first place. Like I said, I don’t remember it always being this bad. But maybe that’s one of the many points I’ve forgotten? If so, well, blessings come in all forms. I’d rather have moved on to some other product, and kept my better memories towards JAWS.

Any ideas for improving this problem – and not just letting it be a SNAFU?

Rant Over – Thanks for Listening, 😉

Everett
